The launch of iPhone SE 2 or iPhone 9, one of the most anticipated phones of the year, has reportedly been delayed due to the coronavirus outbreak.
A report from DigiTimes informs that Apple has asked the suppliers of PCB or printed circuit board of the iPhone SE 2 to push their shipment to the second quarter instead of the first quarter. The report further states that the delay was a decision of Apple’s, not of the suppliers. This clearly affirms that Apple isn’t launching iPhone SE2 or iPhone 9 in the middle of March as it had previously planned.

“Taiwan-based flexible PCB makers in the supply chain of Apple devices will see their shipments for the upcoming entry-level iPhone SE2 deferred from the first quarter to the second, and their second-quarter revenues may buck seasonal trends because of the deferral, according to industry sources.
As the coronavirus outbreak has reportedly prompted Apple to defer pull-in of PCB shipments for its iPhone SE2, originally set for launch in the first quarter, leading PCB maker Zhen Ding Technology – believed to be a supplier for the new iPhone – has expected better-than-usual revenue performance for the traditional off-season in the second quarter, the sources said.”
The Apple iPhone SE 2 or iPhone 9 is believed to come with a 4.7-inch LCD screen, 3GB ram, A13 chip and is likely to include the home button as well. The phone is expected to look like an iPhone 8, more so if it carries just a single camera. However, it would be great if Apple upgrades the camera to be on par with iPhone 11. iPhone SE 2 or iPhone 9 is tentatively priced at $399.
We cannot say with utmost certainty when the iPhone SE 2 or iPhone 9 will be launched, but the report from DigiTimes also suggests that the LCD of iPhone SE2 aka iPhone 9 has entered the final stage of verification in Zhengzhou, China. So there is some delay, but we may get to meet the most affordable iPhone any time soon. In fact, Apple can even launch the phone in March, but with limited availability.
